A new life begins......

I haven't made any progress on the boat, my hobbies and projects or my life for about 3 years due to an ever worsening back condition. Thanks finally to my surgeon some severe problems were identified and I had back surgery early in Dec 11 and hopefully it changes my life so that, even in retirement at 43 I can enjoy life, resume my hobbies and other activities and maybe reconnect a little with the work I enjoyed so much. Recovery is slow with such a serious surgery, double disc fusion in my lower back, laminectomy to release nerves from severe impingement and complete removal of the lowest disc.

We have moved from just West of Brisbane to Woodford, North of Brisbane, a wonderful green region among the Glasshouse Mountains with a fabulous little town I remember from my childhood with visits to my uncle Bob and auntie Joyce and all their clan. Bob was my paternal Grandfathers brother and we loved to visit from out in the bush where we lived near Texas. I have fallen out of touch over the years with the clan, Bob and Joyce both departed when I was young. We are lucky to have my close friend Martin and his family just 5 min away and spending time with them is always great. We have 2 acres to turn into a garden and a number of cats and a couple of dogs to entertain daily. I finally have a shed, a magnificent thing that is yet to get power and do anything more than provide storage, but that will change soon.

So with another chance to live a decent life I look forward to recovering from surgery and getting back into the shed and the boat, finishing many outstanding projects.

The house, under construction.

The shed - driveway yet to go in.

Boz, pussycats rule his existence. Reggie was his best buddy but was lost to a speeding driver in Ipswich. They shared the dog bed a lot, sleeping together in the cold.

Boz and his new buddy Jerry. Jerry is a younger brother to Reggie and came with his sister Rosie after we lost the little Red Man.

Murray, he joined us right after Reggie and they grew up together. He has grown into a very large boy.

From the beginning

It's amazing what you find on ebay, but there she was, reasonably priced and never been in the water. Still needed finishing and she looked large enough to allow Nelly and I to really enjoy ourselves.

I had her trucked down from Tin Can Bay, Qld and the crane lifted all 8 tons into place but other than purchasing items to use fitting her out very little has been done due to the back pain.

Naming her was looking to be a problem but having discovered Possums using her for shelter from time to time it seemed a good name, so Possum it is.
